Most of these drawings were created while I attended Kendall College of Art & Design (1985-1990). I was fortunate enough to attend drawing and painting classes taught by some great figurative artists: Deborah Rockman, Sandra Starck, Jay Constantine and Jack Titus. Their enthusiasm, discipline and knowledge of drawing and human anatomy has been a constant source of inspiration for me to this day.

These drawings represent early examples of my search for a theme and message while expanding my technical skills. The medium varies from ink or watercolor wash and charcoal combinations to pastel. One of the pictorial exercises that interested me most at this point was trying to tell a story without showing everything within the picture plane. Shadows, reflections and point of view became important elements in conveying the idea without giving everything away at once.
